Met Sister J for dinner at this famous Taiwanese restaurant chain.
This is the first time I tried it, but of course I had read and heard much about it.
Maybe my palate is not refined, but I found the xiao long bao ordinary. Or maybe I don't know how a good Xiao Long Bao should taste like.
However, the chicken soup was very very good. And the fried rice rich and sticky.
And we had tau sar bao for dessert. It was hot, solid, with plenty of fillings.
Come to think of it, several weeks ago, Sister S bought me a piece of braised beef from this restaurant, as takeaway. I remember the beef was very very soft and flavorsome, and the soup potent. Because I stayed awake until 2am that night.

the xiao long bao at ding tai feng is over-rated lah. heard when they just opened, there was loooooong queue.
still, for that price it's acceptable to the fussy ksn.
cat_aunty, how come braised beef kept you awake until 2am?!?!
Apparently there is still a looooong queue at the main branch at Taipei!!
I don't know about the braised beef. As I said, it was potent. Maybe they used some kind of herbs in the soup stock?
Eh, which outlet of DTF is this in the pic? So outdoorsy one.
Their fried rice is nice lah...maybe it's the type of rice grains they use, which looks like pearl rice.
I got this pix off the internet. Maybe it is not in SG.
