The latest from Hong Kong entertainment scene; the 2007 Miss Hong Kong 张嘉儿 is lauded as the "ugliest in the Pageant's 35 years history".
Woah.
Imagine. You have just been crowned Miss Hong Kong, 过三关斩六将，supposed to be 美貌和资慧的化身, and the audience booed at you, the media said you look like William Hung, the other girls said you slept with the bosses to get the title.
Sad.
We used to watch the Miss Hong Kong pageants on VCR tapes. The prettiest girls didn't necessarily get the crowns. The crowned ones might not be the most successful in her careers. Not all married rich men and became 少奶奶. I think the last one I watched was when Maggie Cheung became the first runner-up in 1983 (?).

i think we should cut some slack for the current ms hong kong. maybe there was something in her that the judges saw, telling them she would be the one who stand out from the others...
look at ms andrea fonseka... wen she won ms malaysia, pple said that she was too fat as well. but she is now on the way to super stardom in Singapore. besides, she is not fat; just dun fit in the cookie cutter mould for ms universe candidates... i think she looks extremely beautiful now though... a hope for more voluptious women...
oh and i disagree with the votes for the most beautiful miss HK ever... i think ive seen prettier. lol....
When I first saw the pic, i thot she's the current 2007 Ms HK who's getting the brick-brats. Haha..
