The outbreak of equine flu may affect the Spring Raching Carnival in Australia, the biggest event being the Melbourne Cup race in November.

Last week, I read that the Japanese champion and runner-up last year may not be allowed into Australia this time. And now sveral horses in Australia have also exhibited the flu symptoms anyway.

It is more than just horse races and gambling.

There are lots of people whose careers depend on the winning horse.

Of course it is a chance for the ladies to show off their hats, the crazies to dress up in wacky costumes, the rest to guzzle in beers and champagne, and having a valid excuse for not getting any work done in the office. It is also a big day for the F&B industry that day, as people will watch the live screenings and guzzle more beers and champagne.

I wonder if it will be the first time that Melbourne Cup will not be run.
