There was an article about Jeffrey Deaver in the Sunday Times. I had only read his Lincoln Rhyme series. I know it is fiction, one shouldn't get too worried about details, but I do find the idea of romance between Lincoln and Amelia Sachs far fetched. And the characterizations are rather one-dimensional.

Bone Collector- actually quite bone-chillingly spine-tingling good. A great debut

Coffin Dancer-bad, bad writing

Empty Chair-very very exciting. I actually felt bad for the kid suspect, good twist in the end

Stone Monkey-never gone beyong page 20, it being so bad

Vanished Man-good beginning, good middle but sorta fizzled out in the end

Twelfth Card-the feelings were there, but the plot is DULL

Cold Moon-too many subplots, just when you thought that was IT, then the suspect went on and do something else

I think Deaver should be finishing off the Rhyme series, he has the eighth one coming out next year, but he has also developed a new series involving a kinesic expert who had a part in Cold Moon.
