We were going to bed at 12.30pm, then I heard this strange meow outside. Twice. Then the sound of collar against biscuit bowl. I knew it wasn't Mera, because he had eaten when I came back.
It was a totally strange cat! With collar and bell, probably 6 months old only. He was so hungry he was oblivious to Spencer, me and the camera flashes. His backbone is a bit deformed, but I couldn't see any visible injuries. I presumed Mera had been fighting with him, taken pity on him, and told him there is food at our place.
I think he was abandoned, because I had spotted him for a few days now, at the opposite block. And he is skinny. After dinner, the friendly cat started to groom and explore. This made Spencer VERY angry. She blocked the door, and didn't allow anyone to go into the house, even me! I was rewarded with snarls and swipes when I tried to push her in.
At 1am, Spencer confronted the kitty, who was hiding in the neighbour's shoe rack. She was so aggressive and gung-ho, it was hard to believe. The cat just growled and stayed hiding. I used water spray to calm both of them down, and Spencer ran back into the house so I could lock up. I don't think she slept a wink at all. She was still alert and awake when I fell asleep.
Yakob the cat was back again this morning, finishing off Mera's leftovers. Once again Spencer parked herself in front of the door, and started to challenge the cat. Yakob went to another neighbour's shoe rack, and napped there. He even had lunch.
Spencer is still in a state. Sigh.
