I came back the other night, and carried Mera with me. Then he had his dinner, and Spencer went out to see him.

Then I realised they had been out for about 20 minutes.

I went out to see.

And saw Mera watching over Spencer, while she investigated the staircase.

During Spencer's 9 years with us, she had only gone down or up the staircase on her own, like 4 times.

Each time she was lost, and had to scream and yell so we could come and rescue her.

It was when she was about 1 year old. We left the windows opened, so she could jump in and out on her own.

She would shout in the middle of the night or 4am, and expect us to come and get her. She was invariably on the third floor, clinging onto the grilles and SCREAMING her head off.

Eventually she realised that she is just bad at navigation, so thankfully, she gave up her nocturnal adventures.

She only went down once, and was petrified when I found her, hiding among some discarded furnitures.

Sister S tried to bring her down to the garden. Spencer struggled and screamed, and kicked Sister S in the ribs. So that was the end of that.
People doesn't believe me when I told them my cat never go downstairs to pee or rummage rubbish bins, but it is true. It can be done.
