Then you get your scratch board made from prefab cardboard.

Cats do prefer this type, and Spencer always knew when we opened a new box. She would wait patiently for the ianugeral scratch.

I personally prefer the Four Paws, as the claws seem to fit into the weave nicely, and it is wider. The catnip powder provided helps too, but only certain cats respond to it.

The Japanese brands eg Marukan, Friend-Land are alright, but the weave is very tight, and the board is much narrower. By theory it should work, but it doesn't.

I have also tried scratch board made from corrugated wood. That one was a total failure.

I do not agree with Americans on their foreign policy and their war-mongering ways, but they sure do know something about scratch board! The SmartyKat SuperScracher+ was bought from USA. The width is twice the local size, so fat cats can have a comfortable scratch without fear of falling off. The catnip provided was also quite potent. Spencer loves this brand.

The only disadvantage if this type of scratchy is it leaves paper debris all over the floor. The only way is if you place it in another box or tray. Posted by Picasa
