This Hat was walking around with flattened ears this morning. The left ear more so. I took a look inside, it was all full of dark brown gunks.....UGH. Right ear is clean. Ear mites?
I tried to clean the ears with cotton buds and water, as I do not have other solutions available. If it is ear mites, it is contagious right? Oh groan....

Dear Cat aunty, for ear cleaning, I sometimes use wet tissue (aloe vera from Watson's). One of MIL's cats doesn't like the feel of cotton buds, and since wet tissue can't really reach the inside of the ear, I wrap a corner of the wet tissue over cotton bud to do the job...not so prickly.
But ear mites is another tricky matter...the cat will stay away from me for many visits after that! I read that ear mites can spread via the cat bed or blankets that the cats sleep on.

i think it should not be ear mites..i think ear mites is a bit black in colour in the inner..should be dirty ears....my sister used ear lotion(that we purchased from the regular pet shop) to clean my car's ears once daily..after like one month, her ears are both clean.
If u have difficulty in cleaning the ears, the pet shop owner taught me that we can cover the cat like a mummy, leaving the head..(need 2 ppl), then apply the lotion.this way, the cat will not move too much.
