I was at the neighbourhood police post last night, to report a theft in the store.
I had done this for a few times now, and I know how long it would take. I even brought a book along to read.
I think the police is trained to be sceptical and suspicious to start with, to prevent people from making false accusations. But the Officer SY who served me in the beginning, was downright RUDE.
Luckily after 5 minutes, Officer LKB took over his shift and SY signed out. LKB was more helpful, and seemed to grasp the situation very quickly.
Throughout the process, we got all kinds of people coming in, and I do sympathise with the police, for the work they have to do. There were more than one officers in the NPC at that time, but no one came out to serve. I guess it was because there is only one PC terminal?
1) lost handphone on bus. No suspect, most likely owner dropped it himself but he thinks he was robbed. Line cancelled.
2) lost handphone, reported last week. PRC woman called the number today and there was ringing tone but no one reply. Don't know why she never cancelled the line. She wanted the police to find the phone for her.
3) lost handphone again. Aiyoh why these people bothers so much ah????? Buy a new one lah!
4) lost WP card but didn't bring employer's letter
5) lost maid. Ran away with paspot and some ringgits. No photos or photocopied documents provided, just the name and WP number. I heard the man talking on the phone with his family. They scolded the maid about something, not allowing the maid to go to Malaysia to see her brother.
6) bad customer service at the nearby coffeeshop (!!!!!!!!????)
7) this old woman walked in, I think she is a "regular". Another officer escorted her out immediately.
I left after one hour, which was not too bad. I always have the greatest respect for the SG police force.
This morning when I surfed the Police website to write in to commend Officer LKB, I saw that one can lodge electronic police report on line, for crime and theft of a non-urgent nature. I think I will do that in the future.
