I got this wonderful book from Kinokuniya, Tokyo Rojineko Map ( 东京猫町散步/ 一志敦子 ), by Atsuko Isshi. It is translated and published by a JJP ( 人人出版社 )in Taiwan. ISBN 986-7112-13-x/ May 2006.

Basically it is a map of various streets in Tokyo, where you can find stray cats. The cats seemed to be well fed, well taken care of, and given shelters.

The illustrations inside are very well done, rich in details and humour.

Well, KSN, maybe the street names in Japanese will be easier for you to locate them when you are in Tokyo?

Hmm...I'm curious what kind of shelter they build for the stray cats. Will drop by Kino to have a look.

So, the care is all done by volunteers? All sterilised also?

Dear KSN, whah, your Amazon Japan can deliver so quickly?? Amazon USA usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks! I hope you really find those cats when you go Tokyo!!

Dear auntie P, the residents and shop owners take care of the cats. Most cats are sterilised. The shelters are made from various boxes, planks, towels and bricks. Do go and have a look at this delightful book!

Dear San, got Japanese version lah, if you want.

dear cat_aunty

i use vpost which is cheaper than amazon's freight charge. i ordered on 15 June so it took about 2 weeks. vpost japan consolidates every thursday so i had just missed the cut off. on some occasions my packages reach after 1 week.

but beware, vpost charges by volumetric weight, so if you have a light package but volume is big, then you'll be charged more.

i think books are rather safe, cos they're flat.

hee..

i have one question - are the cats mostly sterilised? or just a few towns? well, i guess there's only one way to find out - search for them there.. me and coboypb will look like mad women overturning boxes and going, meow... meow...

Dear KSN, thanks for the tips!! As for the cats, I think not all of them are sterilised, coz there seemed to be many kittens. I hope the locals will help you both to locate the cats!
