Max dropped by, after a visit to the vet. His gums are inflammed and smelly again, he is drooling, and dropping food. Apparently he waited at the vet for one hour, and was grumbling inside the cage.

He didn't nap a wink today, plus the long wait at the vet, and he was tired by 5pm.

Yaaaaaaaaawn........!

I gave him some biscuits, he had a drink, and had a short nap. Then he looked much happier.

The vet proposed interferon for Max's stomatitis. It involves three sessions, all under GA, at 2 weeks intervals. His teeth will be cleaned and scaled, then interferon injected into the gums. According to the vet, he has two patients on this, and the condition has not relapsed after two months, with no side effects. At the moment, Max needs steroid injections at 6 weeks intervals. I tried to look up this treatment on the internet, and there was only oral interferon being used in USA, for the same type of condition. I guess we will go for this treatment eventually, because of the side effects of steroids. Posted by Picasa

Well, at least there are treatments available.

He is easy with tablets, so it is less stress for us.
