I was watching this programme Moulin Rouge Girls, on Discovery Travel & Living. It is about 6 Australian girls, trying to make it, in the most famous dance troupe in the world. One may think that since Baz Luhrman's success with the movie, Australians have adopted Moulin Rouge as their own. Actually, there are many Australian dancers in the troupe, outnumbering the locals 10 to 1.

It is a good programme, made in association with the Australian Broadcasting Coorporation.

And Janet Pharoah, the Ballet Mistress, is riveting to watch. I can't explain. She is not young, her hair is grey, she smokes, she has buck teeth. But when the camera is on her, you can't take your eyes off her.
